Then, they added a twist… “make it solar powered” and give it enough throw-back style to be mistaken for your grandpa’s watch at a dive bar. The Stinger 44 brings it all together. The waterman-approved design features an oversized bezel and crown along with powerful luminescent indices, making it easy to track your dive times while you’re snorkeling for Abalone. The seamlessly integrated solar panel means you’ll never worry about battery life again. With classic color combos and a five-link stainless band, it’s heirloom-ready for the grom finally heading off to college or even your grandpa who keeps losing his. The design and construction of this watch gave us a lot of levers to push and pull when it came to color and material blocking. With the blocking we were able to emphasize different aspects of the design, to make the watch feel contemporary and layered. The color palette drew on the history of dive watches but with slight shifts that spoke to Nixon’s coastal, surf and skate culture.
